The Jabari of old is back! I am a big Jabari Parker fan, but I would be lying if I said Jabari has lived up to his hype. Jabari Parker was on the cover of Sports Illustrated in high school. HIGH SCHOOL. Most top prospects in the NBA don’t get that kind of recognition! He lived up to the hype during his one year tenure at Duke, and then was selected 2nd overall in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. Parker, during his rookie season, once again lived up to the hype until that fateful Christmas season injury to his leg, in which he was carried off the court. He attempted a comeback the following season, but was spotty; he would have good games, be hurt, or not get that much playing time. Then not much was seen of Jabari Parker except for a very short stint with the Milwaukee Bucks G-League affiliate, the Milwaukee Herd, in which he only practiced with the team during his recovery. In 2018, he signed a deal with the Chicago Bulls; there he had games were he looked great and was scoring in the 20 point range, but he was getting irregular minutes. At one point, he was out of the line up for 7 weeks!
The game for Jabari Parker has changed, though. He is now a Washington Wizard through a trade that sent Bobby Portis, Jabari Parker and a 2023 second round pick to the Wizards in exchange for Otto Porter Jr. Parker was then given playing time with the Washington Wizards in which he had 7 points, 11 assists, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals. A very solid game for Parker and almost a triple double! This is the Jabari Parker that I want to see; I would like to see him score more points, but this is what he was suppose to be.
Why the Bulls traded for a guy who says he doesn’t want to play for Chicago is beyond me, and this just goes to show every Bulls fan that the Bulls will never win another Championship. Otto Porter Jr. doesn’t want to play for the Bulls! Then, the two guys they traded go off and have great games, especially Bobby Portis. I don’t know, but I think the Bulls played themselves on this trade, and welcome back Jabari Parker.
In the words of Hagrid from Harry Potter, “You’re a Wizard Jabari (Harry).
