Things are getting weird between Johnny Manziel and I. I don’t know what it is, but for some reason Johnny Manziel loves playing for teams that I root for. Let’s start with the Oregon Ducks; during his high school days, Johnny Manziel was set to play for the Oregon Ducks before he chose Texas A&M. No, he never played for the Oregon Ducks but was going to, and at the end of the day, it is the thought that counts. Then Johnny gets drafted by the Cleveland Browns, which is my favorite sports franchise in all of franchises. Was it his decision to get drafted by the Browns? No. But by some chance, he ended up on the Browns (my team) of all teams. (I still think the Johnny Manziel's draft choice was for publicity more than anything). Then he was cut because of HIS OWN actions and gets signed by my CFL team the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who I started watching because of Oregon alumni Jeremiah Masoli. He was eventually traded to Montreal, but now Johnny Manziel is headed to my favorite AAF team the Memphis Express. So my only question is, why is Johnny Manziel always on my favorite teams? And why is he so obsessed with playing for my favorite teams?
I actually wrote a blog about the Johnny Manziel-CFL drama but never got around to posting it. In that blog, I said I guarantee Johnny Manziel would sign an AAf contract, but I thought it would be with the San Antonio Commanders. But again, Johnny Manziel chooses my team, the Memphis Express, a team I declared my favorite team before the inaugural AAF season. The Memphis Express are in desperate need of a QB, but is Johnny Manziel the answer? I mean, at Texas A&M he was a legend, with the Browns he showed talent but showed flaws, in the CFL… he wasn’t impressive. One thing I have noticed about the AAF, though, is that it is a sloppier game, one very reminiscent of college football style, and that is the kind of football Johnny Manziel created his legend. Things could be looking up for Johnny Football and the Memphis Express
