The XFL Announces It's First Head Coach and GM (Dallas)

Former legendary Oklahoma Sooners Head Coach Bob Stoops has been named the first XFL coach as well as GM. Bob Stoops will serve as the Head Coach/GM of the XFL Dallas team. A couple of blogs ago when talking about the XFL, I said the XFL’s first step to becoming an attractive league would be to announce actual superstar head coaches, and the XFL did just that with their first Head Coach in Bob Stoops. Bob Stoops is a great addition to this relaunched and revamped football league. It is sort of artistic in a way, as both parties are being reborn. The XFL discontinued after one season in the early 00’s to come back and relaunch for a 2020 inaugural season date. Bob Stoops is the same. After he announced his retirement in 2017, most knew that he wouldn’t stay away from football. Most figured he would rejoin the FBS College ranks, but it looks as if Bob Stoops is taking the chance and signing with the revamped league.

This is a great signing by the XFL, and I think it is an even better signing for Stoops to go to the XFL. It really does look as if Vince McMahon and Co. will be pulling out all the stops this time around and make sure that the XFL is taken seriously.

For those that don’t know, Bob Stoops has been a Head Coach for 18 years, with a 190-48 overall record, 1 National Championship, and ten BIG 12 Championships; he is also a 2 time Walter Camp Coach Of The Year, and is the only coach in BCS Era to win a Rose, Sugar, Fiesta, and Orange Bowl.
