The Hack is Not Back, Richardson is the Same

Oh man, what can I say? I still really like the AAF; I really do. Any new league should expect growing pains, of course, and this first season might be a little rough at times, but holy shit Christian Hackenberg, you were suppose to be back and prove all the haters wrong. What the fuck happened? It was one thing after another for you, man. I mean, you went 10-23 for 87 yards and an interception; you were given a rough time all day, and the passing game couldn’t find it’s rhythm. I chose the Memphis Express as my team, and I am sticking by them (until Des Moines gets a team), but I honestly don’t know if I want to see Christian Hackenberg go under center again. That was just rough.

On another note, former Browns and Colts running back Trent Richardson was making his comeback tour for the Birmingham Iron. He had two touchdowns, but was not an efficient runner as he finished with 58 yards on 23 carries. Richardson also lost a fumble, which in the end didn’t matter much because the Memphis Express couldn’t do shit with it. Trent Richardson may have had two touchdowns, which are huge, but he showed that he has not taken it upon himself to change his game at all as he would consistently miss wide open holes and run the ball into heavy, and most of the time, clogged traffic. There is much work to be done, but there are still 9 weeks left.

I will say I did like what I saw from the AAF’s opening week. Remember, it is a new league composed of NFL players who didn’t make it or never got the shot so there will be growing pains. The games we saw this weekend were okay; the best game that was played was either Salt Lake City Stallions v. Arizona Hotshots or San Antonio Commanders v. San Diego Fleet. I think the AAF needs to get better QB talent and the games will be better; it seemed like a lot of the QBs were just kind of thrown in there. I mean, there were times you heard the QB call a play in the huddle and he couldn’t get it out right, so I definitely think if they can acquire better QBs or have the QBs they do already have more reps then it should get better.
