Did the Knicks Actually Win the Trade?

If you read my earlier blog, you know my feelings about the Porzingis trade; I think it will backfire. So did the Knicks actually do something good for their team? Let’s look. They acquired two future first round picks. Score. The acquired one of the top young PGs in the league. Score. They also acquired DeAndre Jordan and Wesley Matthews. Score. They cleared up a TON OF CAP SPACE TO SIGN MEGA FREE AGENTS. Score. The Knicks, of course, gave up Porzingis, a great player, but a guy that has proven he can’t do it alone, let alone make top 10 in just the Eastern Conference. Take that as you will. They gave up Tim Hardaway Jr., finally. They also gave up Trey Burke, who has not lived up to the hype, as well as an underrated Courtney Lee, which sucks.

So, I would say the New York Knicks have won this trade. It is crazy to think, but I do. Now the Knicks just have to not be the Knicks and use that fortune of money they have on great upcoming free agents like Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving; that would be huge. Plus, they will have a top three pick, more than likely the number one overall pick, which they can use on Zion Williamson. That would be huge. Can you imagine a team with Kyrie Irving, Dennis Smith Jr., DeAndre Jordan (I would do anything in my power to not let him buyout and try to convince him to stay), Kevin Durant, Kevin Knox, and Zion Williamson. That would be a scary team coming from the East and would definitely put New York Knicks basketball back in the postseason where it belongs.
